CLEAR 2008 Annual Conference - Session Submission Form
September 25 - 27, 2008
Anchorage, Alaska

A printable copy of the guidelines and form is available.
We can no longer accept session proposals submitted online in time for the mid-year meeting.
If you're interested in submitting a proposal, please use the printable form and bring copies with you to the mid-year meeting.

CLEAR invites your involvement in our 28th annual conference, "Promoting Regulatory Excellence."  We are accepting session proposals relating to critical issues in professional regulation that are designed to help our attendees carry out their vital shared mission of public protection. The conference features dynamic, interactive content in three core areas: professional discipline; policy and administration; and credentialing and exam issues.

Programming Track Mission Statements give details about each of the programming tracks.

Session Formats
CLEAR conference sessions fit into the following formats: 3-hour pre-conference workshop, 1-hour early bird session, or 1 to 1 1/2-hour breakout session.  We expect to select 1 pre-conference workshop, 4 early birds, and 21 breakout sessions (7 in each programming track). The pre-conference workshop and early birds are generally roundtable seating to promote interaction and facilitated discussion. Breakout sessions can be in roundtable seating or theater-style seating. Please be sure to specify your preferred format on the submission form.

Interactive sessions with opportunities for facilitated discussion, as well as sessions with a case-based approach, are encouraged.  Preference will be given to sessions that focus on involving new speakers that have not appeared at CLEAR before and sessions that focus on outcomes and learnings rather than a narrative approach.  Sessions that present an international flavor and multiple perspectives on an issue are also favored.

A list of past conference topics is available.
The conference planning schedule and deadlines is available.
A list of responsibilities for session coordinator and moderator is available.
Please review these documents before submitting a session proposal.

To ensure consideration, proposals should reach CLEAR's office by
DECEMBER 1, 2007.

The application process is as follows:
1.  Submit a completed session proposal form by December 1, 2007.
2.  Additional information may be requested prior to January 4, 2008.
3.  All session submitters will be notified of the status of their proposals by January 31, 2008.
4.  Successful submitters will be formally invited to finalize session titles and descriptions by February 29, 2008.
5.  Session details appear in the conference flyer to be distributed by April 4, 2008.

We invite you to consider the following benefits of presenting: enhance your skills; bring recognition to yourself and your organization; improve the effectiveness of your colleagues; support the mission of CLEAR; further the discipline; network with other like-minded professionals; partner with others to add value to your organization.

Proposal Review Process
The Program Committee’s review process begins immediately after the December 1 deadline.  Please submit by December 1 to guarantee that your proposal is included in this review.  During the mid-year meeting, the committees will recommend sessions for the conference program.  Please be advised that the Program Committee reserves the right to accept your proposal in full as an individual session or combined with other proposals as a collaborative session in the interest of providing a balanced program.  Changes may be made to session titles and descriptions.  Your willingness to work with individuals proposing similar or related topics is appreciated.  To that end, please be advised that acceptance of a proposal does not necessarily indicate acceptance of the recommended coordinator, moderator, or speakers.

If you'd like to discuss submitting a session proposal or have any questions about the process, please feel free to contact one of the Program or Track Chairs.

Program Co-Chairs: Faye Lemon and Nancy Swetnam
Credentialing & Exam Issues: Tom Gottlieb and John Pugsley
Professional Discipline: Donna Mooney and Claudia Skolnik
