Suit filed against Texas dog breeder licensing law

16 Nov 2012 9:04 AM | Anonymous
The recently-approved Texas law which regulates dogs and cats breeders is being challenged in Federal Court. In the lawsuit, the Responsible Pet Breeders Association claims the law violates the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments (which protect against unreasonable search and seizure, and provide for due process, respectively). The law affects breeders with 11 or more female dogs or cats used for breeding, those who breed dogs and cats for direct or indirect sale, or those who offer the sale or exchange of 20 or more of such animals within a calendar year.
