In-person training can be brought to your jurisdiction as a one-day event featuring the following five modules:
Foundations of Occupational and Professional Regulation
content includes: the importance of regulatory boards; rationale for licensure; typical pro and con arguments; and an overview of trends in licensure
Roles and Responsibilities of a Board Member
content includes: board member responsibility; defining "the public interest"; requirements for service on regulatory boards; how a board member can participate effectively; the purpose of appointing public members; and ethical considerations
Administrative Rulemaking
content includes: what is a rule? kinds of rules; authority to issue rules; when is a rule needed? writing a good rule; avoiding problem areas; regular procedures for adopting rules; notice and publication; public comment and hearing process; and emergency rulemaking
Professional Discipline
content includes: steps in the enforcement process; characteristics of a strong enforcement process; receiving and sharing information; types of disciplinary sanctions; and practitioner impairment
Assessing Competence
content includes: continuing education programs and their availability; criteria for MCE programs; and continued competence
Pricing
CLEAR will provide two instructors (including travel costs), and all training materials at a flat rate of $4,995(US) for members or $6,245(US) for non-members. To arrange a program, contact Molly Marsh and CLEAR staff will handle the rest.
The Board Member Training Program is also offered in-person in conjunction with CLEAR's annual conference.
The Online Board Member Training program is available as a per-person registration or as a yearly subscription.
Per Person pricing: $180 for members, $230 for others
Agency Subscription – Up to 10 users per year: $950 for members, $1200 for others
Agency Subscription – Unlimited use per year: $1850 for members, $2300 for others
After your registration is processed, you will receive an e-mail from CLEAR staff with the web address to access the online training. An interactive self-test at the end of each module helps the participant to gauge whether they have understood the material. A certificate of completion is awarded to participants following submission of an evaluation form at the end of the last module.
Webinars- Each year, the Board Member Training Program is presented as a five-part webinar series. The 2013 series is underway and information about the dates is available on the Calendar of Events.
