CLEAR INVESTIGATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Please note: No sitting member of the Board of Directors may be recommended for a CLEAR award.

This award is established to recognize an investigator in occupational and professional regulation who has demonstrated exceptional performance in a particular case and a history of excellent performance beyond what is normally expected or required.

Qualifications:

Nominees must be employed by a CLEAR member (individual or agency) and nominated and approved by their board, commission or agency head. Only one nomination of an investigator is permitted per calendar year.
Nominees may be classified as investigators, trust account auditors, chief investigators, inspectors or other job titles applicable to conducting investigations or inspections.
The investigative techniques and skills employed by the nominee should benefit other investigators.

Evaluation criteria include:

case study—judged on complexity of case, uniqueness/unusual events, action resulting from the investigation (may or may not have resulted in discipline), and effects or results (changed procedures, laws, rules, etc.)

investigative techniques—Were violations detected beyond allegations? Would techniques used in this investigation benefit other investigators? Also judged on investigative creativity, sound investigative techniques and effective interview techniques.

professional attributes—judged on interaction with others (witnesses, respondents, etc.), independent action, extra effort and case documentation.
