Lack of Regulation of Chiropractors in Isle of Man Causes Concern

The House of Keys in the Isle of Man (a self-governing British Crown Dependency) is currently reviewing the Regulation of Care Bill, which would enhance the regulatory structure of all healthcare-related fields on the island.  The bill proposes using the existing self-regulatory bodies as the basis for an improved system that would provide consistency across professions.  A few members of the House of Keys are concerned, however, about the removal of a specific reference to the regulation of Chiropractors who are not currently regulated on the island.  Instances of client abuse and violations of UK guidelines for the profession are increasingly common and the concern is that the public will not be adequately protected by the bill in its current form.
