Arent Fox's Telemedicine and the Law

An excellent and user-friendly source for legal issues surrounding health information systems, computerized decision support technologies and telemedicine. Comprehensive federal and state related legislation, indexed by year. Updated frequently.

Center for Telemedicine Law

A good source for issues related to telemedicine and licensure, and a good networking tool for telemedicine practitioners.

Department of Defense (DoD) Telemedicine

Provides thorough coverage of projects currently underway within the Department of Defense, a leader in telemedicine technology. Good for tracking other federal activity as well. Updated bi-weekly.

Federal Telemedicine Gateway

A site developed by the Joint Working Group on Telemedicine (JWGT), a collaboration of federal agencies engaged in telemedicine activities. Although some features are still under construction, this site is an excellent resource for tracking federal telemedicine information, especially grants and funding currently available. Besides access to all JWGT reports, the site provides information on newsworthy events, legislation, and links to other resources on the web.

Health Hippo

A collection of policy and regulatory materials related to health care, with some graphics sprinkled in. Information is organized by topic and type of reference.

The Health Law Resource

This page is devoted to health care law, with a special section on telemedicine/informatics. The legal and regulatory issues surrounding telemedicine are discussed, with links to related sources on the Internet.

International Telemedicine Center, Inc.

Includes ITC news and announcements and links to other sites. Its strength lies in the area of correctional telemedicine (the use of telemedicine in prisons).

Emory University's MedWeb

Contains an exhaustive list of telemedicine links. Also includes information on conferences, grants, funding and other areas of interest.

National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)

Helpful in understanding telecommunications terms and legislation. Contains a link to the Telemedicine Report to Congress and information on NTIA initiatives and funding opportunities.

Telemedicine Information Exchange

The premiere site for following the latest developments in telemedicine, including business news. Includes TIE searchable databases, historical archives, a question and answer forum and classifieds. Updated bi-weekly or immediately for news flashes.

Telemedicine Resources and Services

Contains good introductory material and research on telemedicine, compiled by the University of Texas at Austin.
