CLEAR
Hits the Jackpot in Las
Vegas
Almost 500 Attend the 22nd Annual Conference
Attendees
at CLEAR's 2002 Conference in Las Vegas were treated to an Opening Address by Susan
Skog, author of Radical Acts of
Love - Transforming Our
World. She proposed relying
on our hearts when dealing with conflicts, and seeking compromise and
resolution. Her presentation highlighted acts of compassion and
suggested that it is these simple acts that have the power to change
our world for the better.
Breakout sessions thereafter dealt with the myriad concerns, proposed programs and solutions, that face the regulatory community. Attendees chose sessions based around five program tracks: Credentialing and Examination Issues; Professional Discipline; Management and Administration; Legislative & policy Issues; and Roundtable Discussions.
Friday's General Session with Arch Lustberg saw the award-winning presenter return to CLEAR with more valuable and humorous advice on how to effectively get your message across. Saturday saw a General Session that covered
an examination of the pros and cons of oversight options intended to ensure professional regulatory bodies operate in the public interest. Examples were drawn from existing mechanisms across North America as well as creative models considered by governments such as Ontario.Attendees also enjoyed the opportunity to network with colleagues from North America and Europe at receptions, coffee breaks and the Awards luncheon. For the first time, CLEAR was also able to offer continuing education units (CEUs) to attendees of the professional discipline track offered during its annual conference.
