PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

By Bonnie Rhea Adams
December 2004

Thank You!
My term as your President is just beginning and it’s already gratifying to work with such an enthusiastic Board of Directors. The members are to be complimented for their dedication to ensuring CLEAR’s place as the leading North American organization in service to professional regulators.

There are many others of you I’d also like to thank for your contribution to CLEAR these past few months. My appreciation certainly extends to all the members of CLEAR and especially right now to those of you who:

Took the time to participate in CLEAR’s recent online survey. Your comments will be carefully considered by the board as it enters the next stage of organizational planning.

Signed up for committee service. If you can attend the midyear business meetings January 6-7 in Charleston, South Carolina, that’s wonderful. If not, you can still participate throughout the year as your committees carry out their work. Remember, it’s never too late to sign up for committee service.

Renewed your membership in CLEAR. I know these are difficult times for especially state agencies, so your continuing commitment is especially appreciated.

Taught in the NCIT program during 2004. Steve Adler, Keith Bulla, Mike Ferjak, Jim Guffey, Tom Hannah, Donna Mooney, George Saxton and Amigo Wade went coast to coast this year to train regulatory investigators and inspectors.

Sponsored an NCIT program during 2004. It’s becoming increasingly popular for two or more agencies to combine resources so the program can travel to where they are located. If you’re interested, please let CLEAR headquarters know.

2005 Annual Conference
This year’s annual conference is CLEAR’s 25th, an exciting milestone. Program Committee Co-Chairs Faye Lemon and Deborah Worrad have announced a theme in keeping with this achievement: CLEAR: A Sterling Regulatory Resource for 25 Years.  As luck would have it, we’re holding the meeting in silver country, so mark your calendars to be in Phoenix, Arizona September 15-17. Of course, board member training, regulatory leadership development training and the perennial favorites, the basic and advanced National Certified Investigator/Inspector Training (NCIT) programs, will precede the conference.

Midyear Meeting
It’s going to be another busy round of committee meetings this January in Charleston, but there should be plenty of time to get out and enjoy this great historic city. I hope you can join us.
