Regulatory agencies are often faced with increasing caseloads but no additional resources with which to resolve their investigations. Charged with public protection, the Minnesota Board of Nursing held a Kaizen event, in an effort to reduce the length of time to resolve complaints. The Board’s goal was to decrease case resolution time by examining what added value to our investigations. This session presents the results and details the processes of a Kaizen event in a governmental regulatory agency.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn about Lean principles and Kaizen applied to the regulatory process

• Assess what adds value to your investigation

• Determine if a Kaizen event could benefit your agency’s processes

Barbara Damchik-Dykes, discipline coordinator, Minnesota Board of Nursing

Rene Cronquist, director of practice and policy, Minnesota Board of Nursing

A background webinar recording, Introduction to Lean Principles, is also available.
