State Lines

Approaching its one year anniversary, The Division of Registration’s website has enjoyed many successes.

Since its introduction on July 15th of last year, the Massachusetts Division of Registration’s website has proved popular with licensees, consumers and application developers. The latter was evidenced in the division’s receipt of Microsoft’s Bob and Larry’s Windows DNA Developer Award only months after its startup. This award recognizes innovative design and use of Windows-based applications on the Internet.

The division’s home page received 10,801 hits within its first two weeks on the Internet. One of the key features of the website is its ability to provide service to consumers in the form of directories to professionals in their areas. Over 900,000 records comprise the database underlying the website, making it easy for users to check the licensing credentials and status (e.g. disciplinary activity).

The website is divided into three sections including: division services, consumer information and board-related information. Specific features include the aforementioned ability to locate a professional (by zip code or from a list); check the license of a professional (by business or last name or license number); get consumer tips on choosing a professional; board pages linking to regulations and state laws; and applications and forms for consumers and professionals.
