Post-Conference Workshop - Setting Precedents: Top Ten Regulatory Case Lab

Thursday, September 18, 2025
1:30 PM - 4:30 PM (CDT)

Setting Precedents: Top Ten Regulatory Case Lab

Regulatory excellence demands more than just awareness of new legal decisions, it requires the ability to interpret, adapt, and apply them in real time. This interactive post-conference workshop builds on the Setting Precedents: Top Ten Regulatory Cases You Need to Know About closing plenary session, offering participants the chance to examine select cases more deeply and test their practical implications through structured, scenario-based activities.

Attendees will engage in small-group analysis, cross-jurisdictional comparisons, and hands-on exercises designed to highlight how regulatory rulings influence investigative authority, disciplinary powers, evidentiary standards, and registration processes. Through case simulations, legal “what-if” debates, and policy drafting challenges, participants will explore emerging case law and discover what these decisions could mean for their own regulatory context.

Whether you're responsible for oversight, compliance, investigations, or legal review, this session offers tools to strengthen your decision-making and ensure your agency remains aligned with evolving legal standards. Join your peers in applying precedent to practice and leave with actionable insights tailored to your jurisdiction.

Workshop Agenda Snapshot

Presenters will lead attendees through a variety of exercises

Case Analysis & Application -  Dig deeper into two of the "Top Ten" as presenters lead you through a test‑drive of the investigative path, engage in debating the decision, and map next steps for your own jurisdiction.

Cross‑Jurisdictional Lens -  Collaborate with peers to explore how a single case could play out under the legal frameworks of different countries. Can you spot the common threads and key divergences?

You Write the Rule -  Put theory into practice by drafting a model policy or rule change informed by one of the Top Ten's landmark decisions.

The “What‑Ifs” -  Through live polling and discussion, explore how small procedural or evidentiary shifts might have altered a ruling and what that means for risk management.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Analyze and apply recent regulatory case law to real-world scenarios, identifying key legal principles that impact disciplinary processes, investigations, and registration decisions.
  2. Compare legal frameworks across jurisdictions to understand similarities, differences, and emerging trends in regulatory enforcement and compliance.
  3. Develop proactive strategies for integrating legal precedents into regulatory practice, ensuring alignment with best practices and mitigating legal risks in their own jurisdictions.
