Event Details

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to dramatically advance its capabilities and becomes increasingly embedded across industries, its implications for regulated professions and their governing bodies are too significant to ignore. This webinar explores the evolving intersection of use of AI within the regulatory environment, offering a grounded, informative, and forward-looking perspective for professionals, regulators, and stakeholders navigating this complex space.

Join us as we explore recent developments in AI and examine its impact on professional regulation, credentialing processes, and ethical oversight. Through real-world examples and actionable insights, we'll provide "nuggets" that can be shared with regulatory bodies to foster a more informed, constructive dialogue around AI use and integration.

Key discussion topics include

  • Understanding the AI Landscape: What AI is (and isn’t), common use cases in professional settings, and how it’s changing workflows and processes.
  • Opportunities and Risks: From efficiency and enhanced decision-making to bias and data privacy—get a balanced perspective.
  • The Importance of Human Oversight: Why a "human-in-the-loop" approach is essential for maintaining trust, accountability, and compliance.
  • Professional Regulation in the Age of AI: How regulatory bodies can adapt without compromising integrity or public protection, and whether AI has a place in credentialing and regulatory pathways.

This session offers a practical lens on integrating AI in a way that enhances—not undermines—professionalism and accountability.

This 90-minute session is divided into four focused segments:

  • The Basics: A foundational overview of how AI is being used across the credentialing process and assessment lifecycle—from program and exam development to evaluation—and what this means for professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Applications in the Real World: This segment dives into how AI is being used today by regulators and professionals, with discussion of real-world examples highlighting how AI enhances efficiency, supports decision-making, and introduces new risks—shedding light on the shifting regulatory considerations and the need for clear policy direction.
  • Innovation Meets Caution: Rounding out the session, we will discuss some of the "cool" and cutting-edge AI tools currently influencing our credentialing and regulatory landscape. This will focus on what regulators need to consider as they embrace and approve such technologies, including ethical dilemmas, public accountability, and the continued importance of human oversight.
  • "Off the Record" Discussion and Questions: The last (not being recorded) segment will provide an opportunity for the audience to engage in discussing learnings and questions generated from the panelists' presentations, with key discussion points outlined to ensure a rich and interactive exchange.
