Event Details

Over the last several years, there has been a significant evolution in how society approaches domestic and family violence. Formerly viewed as a private affair primarily addressed through the courts, it is now acknowledged as a critical public issue demanding the close scrutiny of regulatory authorities. However, grappling with the regulatory nuances, distinct from both civil and criminal proceedings, poses unique obstacles for regulatory bodies. This session will explore some recent cases from Australia, Canada, and the United States, illuminating the multifaceted challenges confronting both regulatory bodies and the professionals they oversee.

Speakers:
Amy Block, Partner, WeirFoulds LLP
Clare Dixon, Senior Legal Advisor, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Graeme Keirstead, Chief Legal Counsel/Deputy Registrar, College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC
Elizabeth (Libby) O'Neill, Senior Legal Advisor, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Jon Pellett, Attorney, Pennington PA
