Alberta to regulate counselling therapists

The Alberta Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions has announced that counselling therapy will become a regulated profession under the College of Alberta Psychologists. Prior legislation had indicated that the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta would become the College of Counselling Therapy of Alberta, but that section of the Mental Health Services Protection Act will be repealed. Questions still remain about whether addiction counselors and child and youth care counsellors will become regulated.
