Nigeria strengthens regulation and enforcement of IT sector
Nigeria’s Computer Professionals Registration Council (CPN) is strengthening enforcement efforts to combat unqualified practitioners and tighten oversight of the country’s information technology sector. The council has announced plans to intensify registration and certification requirements, expand monitoring of organizations employing IT personnel, and take disciplinary action against individuals and firms operating without proper credentials. The initiative is aimed at reducing “quackery” in the profession, improving standards of practice, and ensuring that only qualified professionals provide IT services in areas with significant economic and security implications. The effort also includes increased collaboration with government agencies and industry stakeholders to enhance compliance and public awareness.
