South Africa: enhancements to architectural compliance
South Africa’s South African Council for the Architectural Profession and the National Prosecuting Authority have strengthened their collaboration to improve compliance with professional standards and address unlawful architectural practice. The partnership is intended to enhance enforcement against individuals and firms operating without proper registration, improve the investigation and prosecution of violations, and reinforce public confidence in the regulation of the architectural profession. Officials emphasized the importance of coordinated action between regulators and law enforcement to ensure that only qualified practitioners provide professional services, particularly where public safety and building standards are at stake.
