UK regulators' joint statement on regulation of AI
UK health and social care regulators have committed to developing shared high-level principles for regulating the use of artificial intelligence by health and social care professionals. The commitment, coordinated through the Professional Standards Authority, follows recommendations from the National Commission into the Regulation of AI in Healthcare that regulators and other stakeholders take a coordinated approach to AI regulation and provide greater clarity about professionals’ responsibilities when using AI. The participating organizations also pledged to develop a coordinated response to the commission’s recommendations and work with other system partners. The effort is intended to support safe, effective, and responsible use of AI while addressing issues such as professional accountability and the role of human oversight.
