Georgia upgrades online licensing system
Georgia has completed a full rollout of a new online licensing system called GOALS to replace its decades-old paper-based professional licensing process. Officials say the upgrade will speed up license applications, renewals, and verifications. However, the change comes after years of complaints about significant delays, system glitches, and backlogs from many professionals, including cosmetologists, nurses, and contractors. Lawmakers previously formed a Blue Ribbon Committee to investigate these licensing issues. While some parts of the system are now more efficient, critics say there are still problems with account access and processing times.
