Morocco considers regulation of translation profession
Morocco's National Order of Translators held its first general forum in Tangier, marking a significant step toward establishing a more formal regulatory and governance framework for the translation profession. The forum focused on strengthening institutional governance through the adoption of internal regulations, reviewing organizational and financial progress, and advancing a code of ethics intended to promote integrity, accuracy, impartiality, and consistent professional standards. Participants also emphasized the importance of continuing professional development, including preparing translators for digital transformation and the growing use of artificial intelligence. The initiative reflects broader efforts to enhance professional oversight, accountability, and public confidence in a field that plays an important role in legal, governmental, diplomatic, and commercial communication.
