We’re excited to announce the release of the AI Glossary of Terms and the CLEAR Principles for Ethical and Effective AI in Professional Regulation—a new, high-level framework created to support regulators as they evaluate the opportunities and risks posed by artificial intelligence.

As AI reshapes how professional services are delivered, assessed, and overseen, regulators worldwide face a critical challenge: integrating emerging technologies while upholding public trust, professional competence, and transparent oversight. The CLEAR Principles offer practical, values-driven guidance that can be adapted across jurisdictions, regulatory models, and resource levels. They’re not rules—they’re strategic guideposts to help ensure AI strengthens rather than undermines regulatory integrity.

Grounded in three core commitments—Professional Competence, Human-Centered Ethics, and Trust Through Oversight—the Principles provide a foundation for informed policymaking, operational decisions, and meaningful conversations with governments, educators, and the public.

And this is only the beginning. In the year ahead, CLEAR will expand this work with training, webinars, case studies, and additional resources to help members understand and apply the Principles in their own regulatory contexts. This initiative will draw on global expertise and the insight of CLEAR’s diverse, international membership.

AI continues to evolve rapidly—CLEAR is here to ensure regulators are equipped with timely, practical, and globally informed guidance. The release of the Principles marks a new phase of CLEAR’s leadership in advancing excellence in professional regulation worldwide.
