Florida introduces bill for veteran and spouse licensure
A bill introduced in Florida, the Veteran and Spouse Licensing Flexibility Act of 2025, is designed to ease professional licensing for veterans and their spouses as they transition to civilian careers. The bill would allow those holding medical, engineering, or other professional licenses to “port” their credentials across state lines for up to 36 months following an honorable discharge. Additionally, if a licensing authority fails to act on an application within 30 days, the applicant would automatically receive a temporary license—ensuring continuity in professional practice. The bill's sponsor emphasized that many veterans return with valuable skills and deserve the flexibility to use them across jurisdictions.
