Illinois bill for alternate path for social worker license

A bill under consideration in Illinois would establish an alternate path for licensure as a clinical social worker.  In lieu of passing the exam, applicants could complete an additional 3,000 hours of supervised training under a licensed clinical social worker of other approved provider. The bill is in response to a study showing disparity in exam pass rates for applicants who are minorities or are older in age. The bill also aims to increase diversity in the profession, with patients benefitting from social workers being more representative of the communities they serve.
