New Nebraska gender care law raises concerns

A newly effective law in Nebraska bans gender transition surgeries and requires regulations to be developed regarding the prescribing of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minor patients. The temporary regulations require 40 hours of "gender-identity-focused" therapy before medications can be prescribed. Providers have raised concerns about the arbitrary-ness of the 40-hour requirements and concerns that the regulations limit their ability to provide "fluid, flexible, and client-centered" therapy.
