Uganda: new digital platform for veterinary regulation

Uganda’s government has launched a digital verification platform designed to combat fraudulent veterinary practice by enabling the public, employers, and regulators to confirm the credentials and licensing status of veterinary professionals online. The system, introduced by the Veterinary Practitioners Council, is intended to improve transparency, strengthen enforcement against unlicensed practitioners, and enhance public confidence in animal health services by providing real-time access to registration information. Officials indicated that the platform will help identify individuals practicing without authorization, support regulatory monitoring, and make it easier for consumers and organizations to verify qualifications before engaging veterinary services.
