The UK's Architects Registration Board (ARB) has outlined their strategy for strengthening oversight of the architecture profession to ensure it operates in the public interest. The ARB’s 2026–2030 Corporate Strategy focuses on improving professional competence, safety and culture within architecture, partly in response to lessons from the Grenfell Tower fire, which highlighted systemic failures in the built environment. The strategy emphasizes strengthening architectural education and training, introducing and embedding continuing professional development requirements, and modernizing regulatory systems to maintain public trust. It also aligns with broader proposals for a Single Construction Regulator, which aim to create a more coordinated regulatory framework across the construction sector, clarify professional responsibilities and promote consistent standards that support safer, higher-quality buildings.
