UK Nursing and Midwifery Council PSA review
The UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) reports that it has accelerated a broad program of organizational and regulatory reforms in the five months since the Professional Standards Authority’s 2024–25 performance review identified significant shortcomings in several areas of its work. The NMC highlights progress in strengthening governance, improving leadership and organizational culture, increasing transparency, and addressing concerns related to fitness-to-practise processes and regulatory performance. The regulator has also implemented changes aimed at improving decision-making, reducing case backlogs, enhancing oversight, and rebuilding confidence among registrants, stakeholders, and the public.
