Wisconsin legislature to review occupational licensing bills

In response to delays and backlogs of applications, a joint legislative study committee has been reviewing the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Draft bills propose a range of changes, from requiring joint legislative committee review of newly proposed credentials, to universal licensing, to preliminary credentials for new graduates and applicants already icensed elsewhere, to changes to the renewal process. Concern was raised that none of the bills address the needs of additional funding and staff.
