FL: bill considers exemption for security guards at places of worship

A Florida Senate bill (SB 52) would allow unpaid volunteers to carry firearms while providing security at houses of worship without needing a professional security license, so long as they satisfy certain conditions. Among the proposed requirements: the volunteer must hold a valid Florida concealed weapons permit, pass a Level 2 background check, submit an armed-security plan approved by the county sheriff, and limit their duties to the religious property itself. If enacted, the exemption would take effect on July 1, 2026.
