Tennessee ninth state in Counseling Compact
Tennessee is the ninth state to begin issuing practice privileges under the Counseling Compact, allowing eligible licensed professional counselors to practice across participating state lines without obtaining a separate license in each jurisdiction. Tennessee joins Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wyoming as states that have operationalized the compact. The compact is intended to reduce barriers to interstate practice and improve continuity of counseling services for clients who live, work, or relocate across state boundaries while maintaining public protection standards. Counselors in the participating states will be able to use the compact privilege to practice in Tennessee and other operational member states, with additional jurisdictions expected to begin issuing privileges as implementation progresses.
